Luc Tuymans

These paintings made me think of the idea that shapes are shapes whether they're abstract or not. That's just what they are.

IN FLUENT FORM 5

These remind me of drawings that Dadaists and Marcel Duchamp would create. You know, all that stuff that deals with ideas of machinery and such because there is an apparent system to these works. They do not seem random or carefully chosen. Rather they seem to be a result of an act - the final conclusions of a system.

Erik Kessels

These are pictures of an installation by Erik Kessels. He printed all the photos uploaded in one day on flickr.

I like his idea of putting something intangible on the internet and making it tangible and actually being able to see an accumulation of information.

This guy's art21 is FASCINATING

And I love how creepy and detailed and almost ethereal these are.

I like that these drawings present unfinished perspectives. There's some feeling of finality because of the amount of detail in the parts that are finished and yet also a feeling of being left on a precipice. Strange.

Alex Roulette

Alex Roulette's painting entitled Smoke Bomb contains aesthetic elements which create a feeling of dystopia. The strange cerulean/turquoise smoke in contrast with the pink houses is what first captures the viewer's eye and conjures many questions in regards to the smoke and what could possibly make it that color. The man in the foreground also causes more questions such as what is the expression on his face? Is he the perpetrator of this smoke bomb? Is he about to throw another one or is he cowering in fear? There are no conclusive answers to any of these questions and so it leaves the viewer to dwell on their feelings of uncertainty and fear.
