Royal Nebeker

I saw his exhibition at the MOA today and I was quite captivated by his own use of symbolism, color and nuances of the human figure. I even almost started crying. These are very interesting paintings that tell their own story. They are dramatic, colorful, organized, and sophisticated all at once. It makes me think about doing figurative work.
My favorite thing about his figures is that he doesn't give theme a lot of detail. They're very gestural and yet there's just enough to see that he is a very good draftsman.
